As we previously reported, three projects by ISU scientists received grant support from the Russian Science Foundation (RSF). Today, we will focus in detail on the research work of Evgeny Kremnev, Candidate of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor, and Head of the Sinology Department at ISU Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communication, “Study of Regional Specifics of Chinese Social Governance: New Methodological Approaches and Strategies”. Despite the existence of a considerable number of studies dedicated to social governance in general, the region-specific approaches to study the social governance in China still stands as an under-researched issue. This includes, in particular, the differences between mainland and non-mainland, central and peripheral, urban and rural, as well as Sinicized and de-Sinicized social governance. Furthermore, the experience of Chinese scholars in this field has not been studied, and there is no established algorithm for working with Chinese scientific works, which represent a sophisticated and comprehensive result of specific modeling.
Evgeny Kremnev:
In Russian science and management practice, many myths took root about how China builds its system of social governance, the extent to which this system is Sinicized, and the significance of tradition, ideology, and other components within it. The project aims to develop new research approaches and methods that will make it possible to identify the real regional specifics of Chinese governance and to see how useful this experience is for Russia, par example from the perspective of building effective and beneficial interaction with China for our country.
