The delegation of Irkutsk State University visited Baku, where it took part in the work of the Law Academy “Synergy of Law”. This year, the main topic of the Academy was familiarization with the system of training and professional retraining of lawyers in Azerbaijan. Irkutsk delegation had the opportunity to meet with Kamran Aliyev, the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, and attend scientific and practical seminars.
Roman Kravtsov, Head of the Criminal Law Department of ISU Law Institute:
The “Synergy of Law” project is not just an educational program, but a powerful tool that contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the role and importance of law in the modern world. This project not only enriches the educational segment in the field of a modern Russian lawyer training, but also allows to form a high level of academic knowledge and practical skills, which, undoubtedly, increases the prestige of education and work in the field of law. I am sincerely glad to have the opportunity to participate in such a significant project, which opens new prospects for our students and teachers.
A meeting with the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, who graduated ISU Law Institute in 1987, attracted particular interest. Kamran Aliyev expressed deep gratitude to ISU law school, noting the high level training.
Irkutsk lawyers got acquainted with the history of Baku State University, discussed the prospects for the development of academic exchange programs and joint legal projects. The delegation got acquainted with the training of specialists in the field of international law and comparative law. Students and teachers attended a lecture on human rights and practice of the European Court of Human Rights, and also met with students of the Law Faculty of BSU.
ISU student Polina Zadereychuk:
Participation in the Academy allowed me to gain valuable experience and see how the Azerbaijani justice system operates in reality. At the meeting with the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan, Kamran Aliyev, we listened to the inspiring story of his professional journey and learned about the key aspects of the Prosecutor’s office work, its role and functions in the public order. The cultural program, which included visits to unique natural and historical monuments such as the valley of volcanoes, Yanar Dagh (Fire Mountain) and the Zoroastrians’ fire temple, also became a memorable part of the Academy for me. I am sincerely grateful to our Institute for such a unique opportunity and hope to take part in the fifth Academy.
