More than 60 foreign students and teachers gathered at ISU for in-depth study of the Russian language. Among them are representatives of Chinese universities: Heilongjiang University, Manchurian Institute of the Russian Language, Beijing Language and Culture University, Anshan Normal University, Renmin University of China; as well as Chosun University (Republic of Korea) – a total of six higher educational institutions. In addition, high school students from Henan Province of China and several students from Spain and Germany take part on their own initiative.

The school program includes practical Russian language classes, acquaintance with the traditions and culture of Russia and Baikal region. Sport events, guided tours around Irkutsk and to Lake Baikal are a part of the program as well.
ISU is holding the advanced Russian Language Summer School for teachers and students of foreign partner universities for the fifteenth time (first in 2009). This year, for the first time, the advanced training courses were organized for the Chinese university teachers.
This year, ISU Summer Russian Language School is divided into two stages. The participants will stay in Irkutsk for one week, and the second week the lessons will be held on the shore of Lake Baikal in the village of Bolshye Koty.
